Nadeem Qadir honoured

Journalist Nadeem Qadir was honoured in Rajshahi for his role in revealing an unknown part of the country's Liberation War history involving his martyred father Lt Col Abdul Qadir.
On April 17, 1971, Col Qadir was arrested by the Pakistani army from his residence in Chittagong and brutally killed for supporting the freedom fighters with money and arms.
None were aware of Col Qadir's martyrdom until his eldest son Nadeem, also editor (English) of ATN News channel, in a 36-year search for his father's fate, discovered his grave in Chittagong in November 2007.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club awarded Nadeem an honorary crest for his efforts through a reception ceremony at the club on Monday.
The club President freedom fighter Mahtab Uddin chaired the programme while its General Secretary Anwar Ali and Rajshahi Theatre President Kamaruzzaman Sarker attended among others.
