Chittagong University Teachers' Association (Cuta) yesterday organised a condolence meeting in memory of former vice-chancellor of Chittagong University (CU) Prof Dr MA Aziz Khan and former Cuta president Prof Abul Kashem Chowdhury.
The meeting was held at the central library auditorium of the university.
Cuta President Prof Dr Mozaffar Ahmad Chowdhury presided over the meeting while general secretary Mohammad Ali Asgar Chowdury moderated the event.
The speakers recalled the sincerity, honesty and dutifulness of the two teachers. They urged the university authorities to take initiatives for preserving their contributions.
They also proposed to name either the newly built Biological Science Faculty Bhaban or University Botanical Garden after the name of Prof Aziz.
Prof Aziz passed away on March 28 while Prof Kashem on February 29 this year.
