Bangladesh Police and Shadhinata Krira Sangha played out a 1-1 draw in the Destiny Group Dhaka Metropolis Second Division Football League yesterday.
In the sixth day of the competition at the Bir Shreshtha Sepoy Mostofa Kamal Stadium, Kabir opened the scoring for Police in the third minute. They held the lead till the lemon break though Shadhinata struck the equaliser in the 51st minute through Dewan.
Independence Day Kabaddi
Bangladesh Army became champions of the Independence Day Kabaddi competition after a 40-19 win over Bangladesh Police at the Kabaddi Stadium.
It was their higher points tally that got them the title after they were tied on three wins each with Border Guards Bangladesh.
National Sports Council secretary Shafiq Anwar distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Under-16 cricket
Rajshahi beat Khulna by 105 runs in the concluding day of the Standard Chartered Young Tigers Under-16 Cricket League.
Rajshahi were 142 all out before bowling out their opponents for 113 runs. In the second innings, they declared their innings on 152-7, only to bowl out Khulna for just 76 runs. Mitul of Rajshahi was declared man-of-the-match for taking five wickets in the second innings.
In the other matches, Chittagong beat Barisal by six wickets while the match held between Barisal and Rajshahi ended in a draw.
Independence Day Water-polo
Bangladesh Army crushed Bangladesh Navy 5-1 to become champions of the Nexus Trading Independence Day Water-Polo tournament at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Pool in Mirpur.
Earlier, Army hammered Bangladesh Police 10-1 while Navy slammed seven past Bangladesh Air Force.
Bangladesh Swimming Federation chairman and Navy chief Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
