Bangabandhu on canvas
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised a 13-day solo art exhibition titled “Bangabandhu-Bangladesh-er Protik”, featuring the works of noted portrait painter Shahjahan Ahmed Bikash. The exhibition was inaugurated on March 17 at National Art Gallery of BSA, Segunbagicha.
The exhibition has been arranged to celebrate the 92nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Veteran artist Qayyum Chowdhury inaugurated the exhibition. Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad attended the inaugural session as chief guest. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of BSA presided over the programme. Lawmaker Barrister Fazle Nur Taposh was present as special guest.
The exhibition features over 40 artworks both on paper and canvas and the theme highlights Bangabandhu's life and works.
At the exhibition, Bangabandhu has been focused on in several ways. Most of his paintings focus on his bold and courageous expression. The artist has captured his keen eyes and pensive mood. Some paintings have expressed Bangabandhu's spirit in his most candid and outspoken moments. Some of his sketches have a distinct touch of realism and focus on every detail of the icon's visage. The painter has successfully emphasised the character's dynamism.
