Congrats Mr. Anam on another good piece of commentary and analysis!

I would extend my hearty thanks to Mr. Mahfuz Anam for writing the commentary and for pointing out the hollowness of Awami League government. Please, as a citizen of the country, I would request you to keep on writing these types of commentary so that our voice of resentment could be vented through you.
What you have written are not only your own points of view, these are also the points of the million of people who want their country to get freed from the clutch of this ruthless government.

Brilliant! He has the guts that one expects from the Editor of the number one daily of the country.

The attitude of this government is totally undemocratic. They didn't allow the BNP, let alone Jamaat-Shibir, to exercise their democratic rights. This attitude is not acceptable.

DEMOCRACY..... What do you expect? We are not civilized enough for democracy.

Destructive attitude must go. Build the nation together.

After much arguing, the opposition was able to chalk out the grand rally in the capital. They enjoyed organising their programmes as they liked. It would be lovely if they could do it without obstructions. The party leaders, supporters & activists reached the venue ignoring all obstacles created by the ruling party and the government. The grand rally was fully successful. May democracy live long!

If it was a public meeting called by the BNP. I think, had it not been compelled to do so, the government would not have taken such measures. The compulsion was that Jamat/Shibir and other cadres of the opposition had plans to create terror. It was feared as such because they have record of carrying out terrorist attacks and subversive acts last year. We cannot believe and rely on the War Criminals and their coalition partners. They are now frantically trying to save War Criminals and the two sons of the opposition leader from being convicted on various charges while their mother was in power. These are all established facts.

What Awami League people and the police did on the streets of Dhaka Monday was despicable and morally abhorrent. It is now obvious that our beloved country is being run by a totalitarian regime that has no respect for the people.
Ashraf
Excellent commentary! Thanks for reflecting the truths. But I feel bad for the poor policymakers of this government who took such stupid and self-defeating political decision! Shame! How funny it is that they are still telling lies to the media ignoring the truths! You can blame your political opponent but you can't blame the innocent people who are suffering for your wrong political decision.

When an Editorial stalwart like Mr. Mahfuz Anam talks along this line and bombard the nation with so many crucial and important questions...we really need to get worried very much. We see a lot of cloud in the sky ahead of us and I am sure some days of heavy rains are just natural.

The commentary confirms undue comparison of likes with dislikes. A democratic government as expected have thankfully tolerated furies of the opposition orchestrated against valid democratic decision and international community would be surprised how the practice of democratic rule can ever be established in Bangladesh.
