87 to get CIP status
The government will recognise 87 businesspeople as commercially important persons for their outstanding performance in business, especially exports, the Export Promotion Bureau said yesterday.
The commerce ministry will award the CIP status to the businesspeople for the year 2010, according to a statement.
Of the CIP card recipients, 51 will be awarded in the export category that will include 15 sectors, and 36 from trade bodies in the ex-officio category.
Commerce Minister GM Quader will hand over the CIP cards at a programme at Sonargaon Hotel today.
The CIP status recipients will enjoy privileges, including entrance to the secretariat without a special pass, invitation to national programmes and municipal corporations, priority in Biman ticket booking for overseas travel, reservation of seats in government transport systems like rail, road and waterway services, and special status at domestic airports.
