Abducted city schoolboy rescued in Manikganj
A schoolboy abducted at Maghbazar in the city on Wednesday was rescued from Manikganj yesterday.
Police, however, could not arrest the abductor as he fled the scene keeping Ariful Islam Arif at Madhabpur village under Manikganj Sadar police station, police said.
Arif, 9, a student of class four of Sher-e-Bangla High School at Maghbazar in the city was abducted on Wednesday when he was returning home from school.
Daulat Akbar, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station, said they rushed to Manikganj as Arif's parents told them that their son has been abducted and the kidnapper is demanding Tk 1.5 lakh as ransom.
The abductor identified as Saidur threatened Arif's parents to cause damage to their son as he could not go to a foreign country for job despite payment of money to a travel agent through Arif's parents.
Police said they first pick up Saidur's mother as bait to arrest him.
