India win kabaddi WC
India clinched the first women's Kabaddi World Cup championship title, defeating Iran 25-19 in the final at the Patlipura Sports Complex in Patna on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, India outclassed Japan 60-21 while Iran defeated Thailand 46-26 in the two semifinals to set up a summit clash.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's run ended in the quarterfinal stage as they lost to Japan by 15-17 points on Saturday night. Bangladesh made a poor start in the first half and despite their best efforts in the second, they had to concede the defeat by two points. Bangladesh had made it to the quarterfinals with three straight wins over Malaysia, Italy and Sri Lanka in the group phase.
