Reckless truck kills bicycle rider

A bicycle rider was killed and his co-rider received serious injury as a truck hit them in the city's Gulshan area early yesterday.
The deceased Mahbubul Alam, 35, was a security guard of "Sajna Restaurant" at Banani and Anisur Rahman Anis is his co-worker, said Sub Inspector Abu Arshad of Gulshan Police Station.
Describing the accident, he said, a recklessly driven truck hit them at the Banani Road No. 11 in front of his restaurant near Gulshan-2 intersection when they were going to Badda Notun Bazar around 1:30am.
Mahbubul died on the spot and Arshad was admitted in a private hospital in Gulshan, the police official said.
On information police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
Mahbubul was an inhabitant of the city's Badda area. He hailed from Baufal upazila of Patuakhali.
