UK education fair begins
The 14th annual Education UK Exhibition 2012 began at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city yesterday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the two-day exhibition as the chief guest.
Representatives from 48 renowned higher educational institutions of UK are participating in the exhibition organised by the British Council.
The exhibition will remain open for public from 12:00 noon to 7:00pm till today. The entry fee has been fixed at Tk 50 each person.
Many students crowded the exhibition on the first day and collected necessary information on courses, programmes and facilities offered by different UK public and private universities.
The UK Border Agency representatives were also present to answer to UK visa related queries.
Addressing the programme, the education minister said the country's students need to study in the renowned institutions in the world to take world-class education to cope with the changing world.
This education exhibition will be a great opportunity for Bangladeshi students who want to study in universities in UK, he added.
British High Commi-ssioner to Bangladesh Robert W Gibson and British Council Director Rosemary Arnott were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Meanwhile, a daylong exhibition will also be held in Chittagong on March 4.
