Journo assaulted by BCL leader at DU

A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Dhaka University allegedly assaulted the university correspondent of the English daily The Daily Sun inside the Teacher-Student Centre cafeteria last night.
The correspondent Rafiul Islam tried to dissuade Masum Billah, BCL vice-president of Surya Sen Hall, from taking food for free from the cafeteria when the latter grabbed Rafiul by the shirt collar and dragged him out, said witnesses.
Agitated Masum, doing his masters in law and a follower of BCL General Secretary Omar Sarif, lashed out at the correspondent, “I am a leader. I cannot be compared with the university's general students while taking food.”
DU Proctor Prof MA Amzad said he will take necessary steps as per the university's rules if they find the accused guilty.
