U-19s clinch series over WI side
Bangladesh team completed their preparations for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, which begins on February 17 in Malaysia, with an inspiring series victory over West Indies under-19 yesterday.
The home team came from behind to win the four match series 2-1 when they registered a comfortable 52-run win in the fourth and last game at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium.
Put into bat, Bangladesh under-19s suffered an early collapse losing three wickets for 25 runs but Saikat Ali joined Nadimuddin Mintu to share a 87-run for the fourth wicket stand as the home team put up a fighting total of 232-7 in stipulated 50 overs.
But unfortunately both the players fell one run short of half-century but man-of-the-match Rony Talukdar made no mistake to complete his own by scoring an unbeaten 59 off 67 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.
Then Shubasish Roy returned figures of four for 27 to wrap up the visitors for 180 runs in 47.4 overs.
Besides, captain and left-arm spinner Sohrawardi Shuvo captured three wickets for 26 runs and Golam Kibria took two for 31 runs.
