RU registrar urged to withdraw case against two BCL men

Two Bangladesh Chhatra League men of Rajshahi University (RU) unit accused in the campus violence case yesterday called on the acting registrar of the university Prof Muhammad Shafi and urged him to withdraw the case immediately.
It was Prof Shafi himself who on August 23 filed the case against RU BCL General Secretary Ayeen Uddin and BCL activist Dipayan Sarker Dip for their alleged involvement in the campus violence on August 22 and 23.
Ayeen and Shafi also wanted to meet Vice Chancellor Professor Altaf Hossain but he was not available as he was in Dhaka.
Talking to newsmen after meeting Prof Shafi, Ayeen alleged that the case is a conspiracy against BCL.
“We will meet the VC tomorrow and request him to withdraw the case,” he added.
When contacted, Prof Shafi said, “I did not say anything about the case.”
Earlier, a faction of students met VC Prof Altaf at his office on Monday and urged him to make sure the case is withdrawn.
They also demanded the government withdraws all cases filed against the students of different universities and colleges for their alleged involvement in the campus violence on August 22.
