Popular stars wish the thespian
Lokkhi-kunja, the Gulshan residence of legendary actor Razzak, was packed with well wishers who had gathered to celebrate the actors 70th birthday on January 23. The entire house was decorated with fairy lights to add flair to the celebration, while popular stars came to wish the thespian.
As soon as the clock struck eight, Razzak cut the cake along with stars, directors, producers and media workers present on the occasion. The flood of birthday wishes, however, had poured in from early morning, with guests bringing bouquets and gifts till late at night.
Razzak expressed his gratitude to Almighty for the unending love of his well wishers. The strength to go on acting are bonuses, Razzak said, adding that he wants to continue working until his last breath.
On the current scenario in Bangladesh's movie industry, the legendary actor said it was hard to tell when the golden years would return, but the endeavour should continue. Saying that cinema halls need to be revamped, Razzak said the government should take the initiative to resolve the problems.
Celebrities present on the occasion were Shabnam, Robin Ghosh, Khalil, Bobita, Anjana, Shabnur, Amit Hasan, Amin Khan, Nipun, Sahara, Shilpi, Ahmed Sharif, Misha Shawdagar, Dinat Jahan Munni, Chashi Nazrul Islam, Ahmed Zaman Chowdhury and more. The guests were greeted by the Razzak's three children.
Razzak was born on January 23, 1942, in Kolkata and later moved to Dhaka. He began acting in local productions in 'mohallas' and gradually shifted to TV dramas. Razzak then moved to the silver screen where he acted and worked as an assistant director. Razzak said that no matter what he did, the main goal was always to act in movies a target he worked hard to achieve.
The turning point in Razzak's career was Zahir Raihan's “Behula”. It brought him into the limelight and he never had to look back again. He eventually established himself as the topmost actor of his time, with every single performance becoming a hit with the audience.
Some of his best works were “Anwara”, “Nil Akhasher Niche”, Dak Babu”, “Alor Michhil”, “ Obuj Mon”, “ Ora Egarojon”, “ Chapa Dangar Bou”, “Rongbaj” and more.
Razzak won several National Film Awards for his stellar performances. The great actor continues to appear in films, along with directing many movies and TV plays as well. His sons Bapparaj and Samrat are also involved with the movie industry.
