300 birds rescued, released

A mobile court released at least 300 local birds of different species after rescuing those from four bird shops in the city's Sagorpara area on Monday night.
The court also fined the bird sellers Tk 25,000 each.
Assisted by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), the mobile court raided the bird shops of Gool Mohammad, Modhu Mian, Jony Mian, and Liakat Ali around 8:00pm.
The rescued birds include parrot, dove, munia, moyna, and lovebird.
Executive Magistrate Alamgir Kabir said some of the baby birds were released yesterday, as it would not be safe for those to be released at night.
