2 NSI men suspended
Four cops of National Security Intelligence (NSI) have been closed and two of them suspended following an altercation and firing of a bullet at the guardroom of the NSI office at the city's Shahjalal Uposhahar early yesterday.
Constable Russel Ahmed put the light of the guardroom on at the end of his duty after 12:00am when his colleague Maniru-zzaman Manzur, who was sleeping in the same room, woke up, police said.
As Manzur got angry and asked Russel to switch off the light, they engaged in an altercation.
At one stage, Manzur snatched away the rifle from Russel and aimed at him. Nayek Rabindra Kumar Tanchangya, who was staying nearby, caught the rifle and a bullet went out, hitting the wall.
Constables Russel and Manzur, nayek Rabindra and constable Sunil have been closed from the NSI office while Russel and Manzur have been put under suspension.
