Gen Osmani inseparable part of War of Liberation
Foreign Affairs Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury yesterday said General Osmani was an inseparable part of the War of Liberation and a true patriot.
He was speaking at a discussion styled 'Expectations of the liberation war and role of freedom fighters in curbing corruption' as the chief guest at National Press Club in the city.
Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangbadik Forum organised the discussion on the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of Gen MAG Osmani.
"The life of Osmani is an example to follow for those who want to work for the country selflessly," said Iftekhar at the discussion that was presided over by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangbadik Forum President Mostafa Allama.
Former Army Chief Lt Gen (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman, Maj Gen (Retd) KM Shafiullah, Maj Gen (Retd) CR Dutta, justice Golam Rabbani, Wing Commander (Retd) Hamidullah, Maj Gen (Retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdhury, economist Dr Qazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmad, Badiul Alam Majumder, Advocate Abed Raja and Bidyut Chowdhury took part in the discussion.
Iftekhar said a wind of changes is blowing over the country and there is no scope for divisions here.
The present caretaker government wants to uproot corruption for ever and the process has already begun, he said and sought cooperation of all in this regard.
Referring to the main spirit of the liberation war, Iftekhar said the expectations of the freedom fighters are yet to be fulfilled.
