UP member murdered

Criminals stabbed to death a union parishad member of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj on Friday night. The deceased, Jagannath Das, 30, of Harishyama village, is a member of Andiura Union Parishad. Md Mainuddin, officer in-charge of Madhabpur police station, said the gang intercepted Jagannath near a graveyard at the village while he along with his associates was returning home from the upazila headquarters at about 8:00pm. They took away a mobile set and other valuables from the UP member and stabbed him as he tried to resist the gang. Later, Jagannath was rushed to upazila health complex in critical condition where he died at around 10:00pm.
