Service to 6cr in 3 yrs: Dr Ruhal
Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque said more than six crore people took health services from the community clinics during the last three years.
“At least six crore people took health care from the community clinics and now the concept of community clinic has generated a sense of relief for primary healthcare in rural areas,” he told the news agency while discussing success of health sector.
He said, “After restarting community clinics the people of villages have been getting modern primary health facilities, medicine and contraceptives from there.”
The minister said the government would provide 2,000 community clinics with internet facilities soon in order to ensure better access to primary healthcare which is also a part of the strategy to establish a Digital Bangladesh by 2021.
“A total of 13,500 community health care providers have been appointed to give primary healthcare to ensure the health service and reduce the maternal and child mortality rate,” said the minister.
He said poor and people of the remote villages have got one community clinic for every 6,000 people. It is the most prioritised tool through which the present government wants to bring health, nutrition and family welfare services at the doorstep of the village people.
He said people can get many services there such as antenatal and postnatal care, regular immunisation, breastfeeding counseling, management of diarrhoea and malnutrition, management of acute respiratory infection, distribution of Vitamin-A capsule, identification and treatment of anemia of women and adolescent, prevention of iodine deficiency, providing tuberculosis (TB) and leprosy drugs, management of malaria and management of common injury.
