Road crashes kill 4
Four people were killed and at least 27 others injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Chapainawabganj, Satkhira and Kishoreganj yesterday.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports: A bus hit a cattle trader Md Kahar Uddin, 40, son of late Kasar Uddin of village Doulatpur in Chirirbandar upazila, on Dinajpur-Dhaka highway at Ambari in the upazila, killing him on the spot at around 8:45am yesterday.
Following the accident, locals blocked the highway demanding two speed breakers on the spot.
In another accident, a motorbike rammed a bicycle on Dinajpur-Bochaganj road at Chhoto Sultanpur village in Bochaganj upazila, killing the cyclist Binod Roy, 20, son of Gazendranath Roy of the upazila, and injuring two motorcyclists on the spot at around 11:00am yesterday.
The injured were taken to Bochaganj Upazila Health Complex.
In Chapainawabganj, truck helper Rafiqul Islam, 45, son of Solaiman Mondol of the sadar upazila was killed on the spot as the truck fell into a roadside ditch at Laxmipur village in Baroghoria upazila yesterday.
In Satkhira, an engine-run van driver Motaleb Hossain, 18, son of Abdus Salam of village Alipur Majherpara in the sadar upazila, was killed on the spot when the vehicle hit a tree beside Satkhira-Bhomra road at Mahmudpur Badamtala in the upazila at about 8:15am yesterday.
In Kishoreganj, at least 25 people, including women and children, were injured when a Dhaka-bound bus from the district hit another bus from behind on Kishoreganj-Bhairab highway at Kamaliarchar in the sadar upazila yesterday morning, said police.
Of the injured, Md Amir Hossain, 50, Bebi Akter, 30, Farida Begum, 45, Khairul Mia, 30, and Md Shah Alam were taken to Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital.
