Three killed in road crashes
Three people were killed and 37 others injured in separate road accidents in Rangamati, Lalmonirhat and Chandpur yesterday.
Our Rangamati correspondent reports: A young man was killed on the spot and at least 16 others were injured when a passenger jeep fell into a roadside ditch after driver of the vehicle lost his control over the steering while the jeep was climbing rugged hilly Chittagong-Rangamati road in Dheppochharai area in the district town yesterday.
The deceased was Adi Dhan Chakma, 35, son of Kitto Chandra Chakma, of village Debotachhari of Sadar upazila.
The injured were admitted to Rangamati Sadar Hospital.
Our Lalmonirhat correspondent adds: One motorcyclist was killed and another injured when two motorcycles collided head-on on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari road at Telipara village of Patgram upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 42, a fourth class employee of Lalmonirhat Judge Court and resident of Milonbazar village of Hatibandha upazila in the district.
The injured motorcyclist Mukul Hossain, 35, was admitted to Patgram Upazila Health Complex.
Our Chandpur correspondent says: One man was killed and at least 20 others were injured when driver of a bus lost his control over the steering and fell into a roadside ditch in Forakkabad area in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Sayful Islam, 35, of Laxmipur village of the upazila.
The injured were admitted to Chandpur Sadar Hospital.
The bus passengers were coming back after attending a marriage feast in honour of the bride.
