As the cold winter swept across the country, the traditional winter festival Poush Mela with the theme, "Amar Shontan Jeno Thakey Dudh-e Bhat-e", concludes today at Ramna Batamul. The Director General of Bangla Academy, Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, inaugurated the 13th three-day fair by lighting an Aaila (usually made from rubble in the rural areas) on January 6. Several artistes and cultural organisations performed solo and choral songs, recited poetry and presented group dances on the inaugural day. This year 32 stalls showcased a variety of winter cakes along with other traditional food items at the fair.Photo: Mumit M.
