One dead, 50 injured in clash over land dispute
A young man was killed and over 50 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups of villagers over a land dispute at Chamakpur village in Mitamoin upazila yesterday.
Police said there was a longstanding enmity between Manik Mia and Ramzan Ali of the village over the ownership of a piece of land.
In a sequel to the enmity, supporters of both the groups equipped with home-made lethal weapons attacked each other leaving Tazel, 30, dead on the spot in the afternoon.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mitamoin Police Station, said police were deployed in the area to avert further trouble.
Of the injured, eight were admitted to Sadar Hospital.
