Ultimatum to send journo Nikhil abroad

Journalist community leaders yesterday demanded of the government to send Kaler Kantho senior reporter Nikhil Bhadra abroad for better treatment within three days.
They also warned that the road in front of the Jatiya Press Club will be blockaded and programme for tougher movement will be taken if the demand is not met within 72 hours.
The made the demand at a human chain programme, organised by Khulna Divisional Journalists Association, Dhaka, held before the press club.
Speaking at the programme, the journalist leaders urged the government to take legal action against the driver of BRTC bus that injured and maimed Nikhil when he was getting down from the same bus at Topkhana Road.
They also demanded to remove all illegal bus ticket booths set up in front of the press club immediately.
Jatiya Press Club former presidents--Reazuddin Ahmed and Shawkat Mahmud, BFUJ secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuyian, former BFUJ secretary general Altaf Mahmud, former joint secretary Zakaria Kazal, former DUJ secretary Omar Faruque, former DRU secretary Shahed Chowdhury and Khulna Divisional Journalists Association joint convenors--Ashish Kumar Dey and Syed Safi, among others, spoke at the human chain programmes.
