50 shanties gutted, six cattle die in Chittagong fire
At least 50 shanties were gutted and six cattle died in separate fire incidents in the port city yesterday.
Chittagong Fire Control Room said the first fire incident originated from an electric short circuit and gutted at least 25 shanties of Jelepara in Firingi Bazar area under Kotwali Police Station around 6:30am.
On information, nine fire fighting units from four fire service stations rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze after two hours of joint efforts.
Fire service officials said the fire damaged valuables worth around Tk 30 lakh.
In another incident, fire, originated from mosquito coil, gutted at least 25 shanties including two cowsheds of Yunus Fakir in Kalurghat area under Chandgaon Police Station around 7:15am.
On information, two fire fighting units from Kalurghat Fire Service rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze after an hour.
Six cattle died and another four were injured critically in the incident.
Fire service official said the fire damaged valuables worth around Tk 8 lakh.
