Probe body holds bus driver responsible
The committee formed to probe the tragic death of Khulna University (KU) student Hadiul Islam under the wheels of a university bus on the campus on Tuesday submitted its report on Wednesday evening.
In the report, the committee recommended dismissal of bus driver, Morol Rezaul Huq, holding him responsible for the accident, university sources said.
The bus driver surrendered to the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here yesterday.
Prof Mohammad Saifuiddin Shah, vice-chancellor of Khulna University dismissed the driver from his service immediately after he surrendered to court.
On Tuesday, the vice-chancellor formed a four-member committee to probe into the tragic death of Hadiul Islam, a student of forestry and wood technology discipline.
Headed by Prof Monirul Islam, the three other members of probe committee are Prof Ashraful Alam, Prof Mahmudul Alam and Director of Student Affairs Dr Anirban Mostafa.
The three-day programme of KU to mourn the death of Hadiul Islam will end today. The syndicate in its meeting on Tuesday night decided to observe three-day mourning from Wednesday, suspending all academic activities of the university during this period.
