Man lynched in Ctg

A man suspected as a thief was lynched at East Dangapara village in Patiya upazila of the port city yesterday morning.
The dead is Abul Kashem alias Bachchu, 55, son of late Md Ibrahim of West Dangapara village of the upazila.
Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman of Patiya Police Station told The Daily Star that Bachchu could not stay in his village as he was an identified thief.
Quoting locals, the sub-inspector said when Bachchu came to his village by a bicycle in the morning, a woman started shouting: “thief, thief.” Hearing the cry for help, people came out of their house and started beating Bachchu leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Patiya Upazila Health Complex where he died at around 10:00am.
