Ex-CID officials appeal for discharge
Three former officials of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday appealed to a Dhaka court to discharge them from the August 21 grenade attack case filed under the explosive substances act.
Earlier counsel for the three officials had submitted discharge petition for relieving them from the case of the grenade attack in 2004 that killed 24 people and injured around 200 others.
The counsel for them continued yesterday his submissions for the third day in support of discharging his clients.
The petitioners are former ASPs Munshi Atiqur Rahman and Abdur Rashid, and former special SP Ruhul Amin, who also investigated the grenade attack cases.
The CID officials submitted the discharge petition before the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 when it resumed the hearing on charge framing against the accused, including BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.
Judge Shahed Nuruddin fixed January 4, 2012 for the next hearing.
