Mob beats 2 'robbers' to death

Two alleged robbers were killed and another was injured in a mob beating at Hyderabad village in Gazipur early yesterday.
The dead, both of them aged about 40, could not be identified.
Injured Monir Hossain, 24, is from Chakrabarti area of Joydevpur.
SM Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Joydevpur Police Station, said locals chased a group of around 15 people who gathered at Hyderabad around 2:00am.
Challenged, the suspected robbers exploded some Molotov cocktails while two of them jumped in a canal. The locals caught them and beat them to death.
They also caught Monir and handed him over to the police after beating.
During the primary interrogation, Monir admitted that they gathered there to commit a robbery.
The bodies were sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Police recovered four sharp weapons from the possessions of the victims.
