Freedom fighters protest BNP remark

The freedom fighters of Moulvibazar district yesterday protested a recent comment of Moulvibazar district unit BNP, saying that the remark was "abusive".
They said the Moulvibazar district BNP described freedom fighters as "unknown" and "so-called" in a memorandum it submitted to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Moulvibazar on December 21.
In the memo, the BNP leaders protested renaming of "M Saifur Rahman Square" at Sherpur of the district as "Muktijodhha Square" and said the renaming is being done upon pressure of "unknown" and "so-called" freedom fighters.
The freedom fighters protested the remark at a meeting in Moulvibazar Pourasava auditorium Thursday night, with freedom fighter and newly appointed administrator of Moulvibazar Zila Parishad Md Azizur Rahman in the chair.
Md Jamal Uddin, district unit commander, Muktijodhha Sangsad; Dewan Abul Khaiyer Chawdhury, district convener, Sector Commanders Forum; Wahid Ahmed, district organising secretary, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Inu); and freedom fighters Abdul Wahab Chawdhury, Mahmudur Rahman, and Ekhlasur Rahman Eklim also spoke at the meeting.
