Road crashes kill 5

Five people, including a minor boy, were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Rangpur, Rajbari, Natore and Jhenidah in last two days.
Our Rangpur correspondent reports: A six-year old boy was killed on the spot when a soil-loaded power tiller hit him while he was crossing the road in front of Saudia market at Vendabari union of Pirganj upazila on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was Limon, son of Bokul Mia, of Vendabari village of Pirganj upazila.
Our Manikganj correspondent says: People set fire on a bus and blocked road protesting a road accident that killed a schoolgirl at Bohorpur bazar area of the Baliakandi upazila in Rajbari yesterday.
The deceased was Sumaya Akter Shimu, 8, daughter of Abdul Halim Biswas, of Moddho Bohorpur village of Baliakandi upazila in Rajbari district and a student of class one of Bohorpur Government Primary School.
The accident occurred when a bus hit the girl while she was crossing the road.
Our Natore correspondent adds: One man was killed on the spot when a Rajshahi-bound truck hit him from behind while he was crossing the Natore-Rajshahi highway in Ekddala area in the district on Tuesday.
The deceased was Bishwanath Das, 45, of Hugalbaria area of Natore town.
Following the road accident, agitated local people blocked the highway for one-and-half-an-hour from 6:00pm.
Our Jhenidah correspondent says: Two people, including a housewife, were killed in separate road accidents at Kaliganj upazila in the district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased were Lipi Begum, 32, wife of Abdul Wadud Mia, of Mahishahati village, and Mohammad Ali, 50, a trader of vegetables of Balidapara village, of the same upazila.
Lipi was killed on the spot when a speedy bus hit her carrying motorcycle while she and her husband were returning home by a motorcycle in Borobazar Abashik Project area. Her husband was driving the motorcycle. He was also injured in the accident. He was admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
Mohammad Ali was killed on the spot when a speeding truck hit him from behind while he was crossing the road in front of Mobarakganj Sugar Mill.
Police seized the truck but its driver and helper managed to flee.
The two bodies were sent to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
