Khaleda seeks more German investment
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday urged the visiting German President Christian Wulff to invest more in Bangladesh for flourishing the country's industrial sector.
She made the call at a meeting with Wulff at a city hotel last evening. BNP Vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury told reporters after the meeting.
Replying to a query of the German president, Khaleda said her party will give top priority to accelerate the country's economic growth, create employment opportunities and develop health and education sectors if BNP is voted to power in future.
During the meeting, Khaleda said she will take initiative so that people can earn their livelihoods working in their villages instead of coming to cities.
The issue of trade and economic relations was also discussed in the meeting.
Terming Germany the single largest export market of Bangladesh, Mobin said the country exports readymade garments, ship building materials and other accessories worth of some 1 billion dollar to Germany every year. Mobin said political issue was not discussed in the meeting.
BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam, standing committee member Mirza Abbas, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, BNP chairperson's advisor Reaz Rahman also attended the meeting.
