BNP-Jamaat out to foil war crimes trial
Captain (retd) AB Tajul Islam, state minister for liberation war affairs, yesterday said BNP and Jamaat getting united are hatching a plot to foil trial of war criminals.
He was addressing a meeting organised by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad (BMS), the district unit as the chief guest, at the port city's Laldighi Maidan.
Tajul said BNP chief Khaleda Zia is trying to save her two sons and that's why she supports the alleged war criminals.
He alleged that the witnesses are being threatened to refrain them from giving evidence before the tribunal against the war criminals.
No evil force will be able to save the war criminals from the trial, he said.
The state minister said after giving evidence of an FBI official against Tarique there is no doubt of his involvement in laundering money abroad.
Chairman of BMS Major General (retd) Helal Morshed Bir Bikram said human chain programme has been going on in front of the war crimes tribunal since Oct 30 and it will continue till December protesting the plot to save the war criminals.
Former minister and Awami League leader Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, former Chittagong city mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, spoke among others, while Md Sahabuddin, commander of BMS, the district unit was in the chair.
