Couple held from Naogaon
Police arrested a couple from Naogaon on Tuesday in connection with the murder of schoolboy Himel in the district town on November 11.
Maruf Hossain alias Manik, 20, was arrested from his house in Par Boalia area while his wife Runa Aktar alias Bristy from Baludanga area in Naogaon district town.
Police said the arrestees have confessed to their involvement in the killing of 10-year-old Miraj Ahmed Himel, son of Abdul Karim Bhola of Khaliphatari area in Rangpur town.
He was allegedly murdered by the couple as his parents failed to pay Tk four lakh as ransom.
Saleah Md. Tanvir, superintended of police of Rangpur district, told newmen on Tuesday that the couple had strangled Himel after beating him up mercilessly on November 11.
The law enforcers on Monday morning recovered the body of the schoolboy from under the earth near his residence.
Bhola told this correspondent that Miraj went missing on Friday. The following day an unknown caller phoned him and demanded the ransom money for release of his son. "The two introduced themselves as husband and wife, rented one of my rooms two months ago, killed my child and fled the house early Friday", he said.
He filed a murder case with Kotwali police station on Tuesday.
In Satkhira, a case was filed with Kalaroa police station on Tuesday accusing four people of abducting a madrasa student from Ofapur village in Kaliganj upazila on Sunday, reports our correspondent.
The victim is a calss eight student at a senior madrasa in the same upazila.
Her father Mujibur Rahman filed the case against Zahangir Alam, son of Abdul Gafoor and three others of the village.
Quoting local people police said, the accused used to stalk the girl on her way to madrasa off and on.
