Worker dies in roof collapse

One worker was killed and four others were injured as the roof of a building that they were breaking collapsed, inside the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters at Pilkhana, Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Selim, 35, while names of the injured could not be known immediately.
Sub-inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam of New Market Police Station told this correspondent that on Sunday the five were breaking the roof of an old one storey abandoned building.
A large portion of the roof collapsed and they were trapped under the debris. BGB personnel rescued the workers and admitted them to BGB central hospital, the SI said.
Selim died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Three others are undergoing treatment while one was released after receiving first aid, he added.
An unnatural death (UD) case has been filed with New Market police in this connection.
BGB Public Relations Officer Mohsin Reza told this correspondent that the accident occurred due to lack of caution of the workers.
