The exhibition showcases a wide range of wedding event essentials, including a grand palanquin, exclusive wedding videos and numerous original wedding photographs.
The photography firm Wedding Diary opened an exhibition titled “Wedding Diary An exhibition of wedding event essentials” on Friday at Drik Gallery in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The exhibition showcases a wide range of wedding event essentials including a grand palanquin, decoration pieces, exclusive wedding videos and above all numerous original wedding photographs.
Each picture tells its own story: There are photographs of brides preparing for the celebration, a family stepping through an archway, henna painted hands, coy couples, beautiful eyes glancing into the future. “We have a photojournalistic approach to wedding photography and our key aspect is story telling”, said Prito Reza, team leader and chief photographer of Wedding Diary said. “We break all rules,” he added.
Reza, who also works for several dailies, started as a wedding photographer five years ago, even though he knew, that the job was not very prestigious. At first it was a way of earning money, he said, but later became a passion.
Five years of a successful journey inspired the photography firm to reveal itself as a complete event planner. Wedding Diary now has a team of experienced professional photographers, cinematographers, thematic and floral designers and event organising experts.
The firm held its first photography exhibition in 2010 which Reza says, was the first ever photography exhibition in the country.
The actual exhibition “Wedding Diary --An exhibition of wedding event essentials” lasts for nine days, until November 19. “All the pictures we show are real wedding pictures,” asserted Reza.
The exhibition was inaugurated by illusionist Jewel Aich and his better half Bipasha Aich. Apart from the media, visitors of every age came to the opening on Friday. “I really wanted to see this exhibition,”, said a young woman who was accompanied by her boyfriend.. If they are lucky, they win a free wedding; a sweep is also part of this unusual exhibition.
