Cultural programme to encourage votes for Sundarban

To encourage people to vote for the mangrove forest Sundarban, as one of the seven wonders of the world, Ekush Shotoker Unnayan (ESU) arranged a cultural function at Manikganj central Shaheed Minar premises on Wednesday evening.
The event included drama, dance, song and traditional jari gaan. Artistes of Manikganj Shahitya O Shangskritik Parishad staged a play “Amader Sundarban”. The play was written by Aminul Haque Sarker and directed by Awlad Hossain. Singers of Dhaleswari Baul Sangha, led by Nurul Islam, rendered traditional folk songs. Child artiste Bijon performed dances.
Md. Ramzan Ali, mayor of Manikganj Municipality, was the chief guest at a discussion on the occasion. Aminul Haque Sarker, executive director of Ekush Shotoker Unnayan, presided over the function. AFM Sultanul Azam Khan, general secretary of Manikganj District Sports Association; freedom fighter Azaharul Islam and Farzana Hossain Khan Punam, president of Barnan Abritti Chakra, attended the event as guests.
