One killed, 2 injured in gas cylinder blast

A retired army officer was killed and two others were injured as a gas cylinder of a Laguna (human hauler) exploded at a CNG filling station in the district town on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Lutfor Rahman Khan, 45, son of late Taleb Hossain Khan of Jogania village in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh.
The injured are Abdul Khaleq, 30, an employee Taj Filling Station, and Moshiur Rahman, 25, a resident of Nabinagar area in the town. They were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.
Witnesses said when the Mymensingh-bound vehicle was re-filling compressed natural gas at the filling station at around 11:00am, its cylinder exploded with a big bang. The retired army man died on the spot while the two others received serious injuries.
Locals rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital.
Parvez Ahmed, sub-inspector of Sherpur Sadar Police Station, said they recovered the body of Lutfor and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Police seized the human hauler.
