Kathin Chibar Dan celebrated

Kathin Chibar Dan, the largest religious festival of the Buddhists in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), concluded at Rangamati Rajban Bihar yesterday.
Thousands of Buddhists from three hill districts of Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachhari thronged the Bihar to offer prayers for peace and religious harmony in the hilly region.
Kathin Chibar Dan is an annual ceremony when devotees offer robes (Kathin Chibar) to monks in honour of the religious leaders.
Sadhana Nanda Mohasthabir widely known as Bana Bhante, chief and most venerable monk in Rajban Bihar, recited the sermon from the holy "Tripitak" to the crowds at the festival.
Chakma Raja barrister Devasish Roy, Industries Minister Dilip Barua, and Rangamati Hill District Council chairman Nikhil Kumar Chakma, among others, attended the ceremony.
Goutam Dewan, senior vice president of Rajban Bihar Upasak Upasika Parishad, read out special prayers on behalf of the committee and devotees to honour Bana Bhante.
Advocate Dipen Dewan, president of the district BNP, passed on a letter of greetings and a piece of robe to Bana Bhante sent by Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia.
