Edwards elated

West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards was happy to see the Tigers play an attacking game on the second day of the second and final Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday.
"It's encouraging for me to see the batsmen playing more shots. The more shots they play the greater chances of me taking a wicket," he said.
Edwards ended the day with figures of 58 for five, his eleventh five-for in Test cricket, and was looking forward to bowling out the Tigers, who are 204-7 at stumps, quickly in the next morning.
"It was a pretty good day for me and the team but we still need to bowl them out. We need to push on from here forward.
"I wouldn't say the wicket here isn't meant for fast bowling. We stuck to our plans and bowled accordingly.
"The plan was to be aggressive and take wickets and contain them. The containing part didn't work but the wicket taking part did," he added.
His namesake Kirk Edwards too had a day to remember, hammering his second Test hundred in only his third match. He moved on to 121 from 72 in the morning session on a wicket that had a bit more pace than it did on the opening day.
"The pitch was a bit faster this morning. Yesterday when Rubel [Hossain] was bowling the balls stood up and got tennis ball bounce. Today it was faster and it skid through. Rubel bowled well.
"The pitch looks about the same as it was yesterday but I do think it will get drier and we'll have to play Shakib well. He's a quality player. I find his bowling to be disciplined and he's a really good cricketer," said Edwards, who hails from the same parish in Barbados as Fidel though the two are not related.
If this was his best batting effort so far, he replied, "I really don't have too many innings to rate it against but my mind stood up well. I was able to pace my innings and do what the team required so I'm happy with the days effort."
