Book on Yunus launched
The image of Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus, the pioneer of micro-credit, can help the country boost its economy, speakers at a book publication ceremony said yesterday.
Prof Yunus has proved that Bangladesh can also offer great ideas like micro-credit, they said, adding that micro-credit is the most significant invention in the economic sector.
The book titled 'Muhammad Yunus: The Saint' by Rashidul Bari, a student of York College in New York, was launched at the programme at a city hotel. Pearl Publications published the 170-page book.
Presided over by Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, the ceremony was addressed by Col (retd) Mahmud ur Rahman Choudhury, editor of The Bangladesh Today, Badiur Rahman, former chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR), and MM Shaheen, editor of the New-York based Thikana and former lawmaker.
