Nirnoy Shilpo Gosthi's tribute to Tagore
Nirnoy Shilpo Goshthi (NSG) of Faridpur paid tribute to Rabindranath Tagore with a programme of songs, poems, dances and plays in observance of his 150th birth anniversary [this year].
The programme, titled “Kobi Pronoti”, was held at Kobi Jasimuddin Hall in Faridpur town recently.
The programme began with lighting candles followed by a rendition of the song “Aguner Poroshmoni”.
This was followed up with melodious choral, duet and solo renditions of Tagore songs by NSG artistes. Among others, singers Luthfunnahar Lata, Papiya Panna, Swapnil Sajib, Steve Tourjo performed on the occasion.
Swapan Das, Shusmita Roy, Srijon Haque Sujon and their troupes performed dances.
Prior to the performance, writer Abir Ahad, chairman of Muktijoddha Shomonnoy Parishad, Bangladesh inaugurated the programme. Shawkat Ali Zahid, secretary of Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Shammilon Parishad of Faridpur, was special guest. Both of them referred to the artistic and literary genius of the bard in their short speeches.
Cultural personalities Shipra Goswami and Oprotim Islam Pulok recited poems and narrated from “Geetanjali” by Tagore.
Hayatul Islam on tabla, Subrata Baidya on keyboard and Rafiquzzaman Tushar on percussion instrumentally assisted the artistes.
