Goods gutted in garment factory fire

A devastating fire broke out at a garment factory at Fatulla yesterday morning, burning down its huge readymade shirts and valuable machinery.
Fire brigade sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the finishing section of the export-oriented factory, Cotton Belly Knighting, on its second floor at about 7:30am and soon engulfed the entire floor.
On information, fire fighters from Hajiganj and Mondolpara rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze with the help of garment workers at around 9:30am.
The factory authorities claimed that valuables worth around Tk 1 crore were damaged in the fire.
