Arrest culprits or face tougher agitation

President of Khulna city BNP and lawmaker from Khulna-2 constituency Nazrul Islam Manju said he would from now on boycott all government functions in protest against the murders of two prominent labour leaders of Khulna city in the last four months.
He was addressing a big rally yesterday morning in front of city BNP office at KD Ghose Road under Khulna Sadar police station.
The rally was held as part of a four-day programme thrown by Khulna city BNP to protest the murder of BNP leader and president of Maheshwarpasha CSD (food) godown handling workers' union Modasser Hossain on Thursday.
Bullets were sprayed on Modasser by unidentified criminals in the evening while he was going home by rickshaw along with his son-in-law Ratul.
The four-day programme will end on Monday through holding of a mourning procession on Sunday, milad mehfil on the same day and another protest rally on Monday at Daulatpur.
Yesterday's rally was addressed also by ex-lawmaker Nurul Islam Dadu, senior vice president of city BNP Shaharuzzaman Martuza and general secretary of Khulna district BNP Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona.
Lawmaker Nazrul Islam Manju yesterday threatened tougher movement and demanded judicial inquiry into the incident and arrest of 'real' culprits.
The killers belong to ruling party and are blessed by a state minister, he alleged.
Meanwhile, Arif Hossain, son of Modasser Hossain, could not lodge a complainant for security risk as he allegedly received death threats twice on Friday evening.
Police could not arrest any one in connection with the murder till yesterday although OC Anwarul Kabir of Daulatpur PS assured a fair investigation following filing of any case.
Modasser Hossain was elected president of the CSD godown handling workers' union in the election held on June 24 this year.
Earlier Abdus Salam Dupu, general secretary of the same CSD godown handling workers' union was hacked to death on June 25 morning, hours after the election.
