3 fishermen missing in Bay
Three fishermen were missing as a fishing trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal Thursday night.
Seven others were rescued by a Cox`s Bazar-bound fishing trawler on Friday. They were floating in water since Thursday night. They were brought to Mohipur in Kalapara upazila yesterday.
Missing fishermen were Alam Pada, 28, Hasanat, 25, and Hasaton, 30, all hailing from Mohipur village, said Mohipur Fishing Trawler Owners' Association president Abdus Salam Hawlader. All of them might have died, he said.
The trawler capsized after being hit by tidal wave at a point 40 kilometre south of Kuakata beach. At that time, the trawler was on its return journey to Mohipur after fishing in Bay.
Nurul Islam and Abu Hanif, two rescued fishermen said capsized trawler-FB Gazi belonged to Sahab Uddin of Galachipa.
Hundreds of trawlers returned to coast to take safe shelter as the sea became rough in last two days.
