FFs boycott DC, accusing him of siding with CS in Nilphamari
Freedom fighters here continued boycott of all functions arranged by the district administration for the second day yesterday protesting what they said the deputy commissioner's alleged misbehaviour with them on Monday.
The FFs also accused the deputy commissioner of siding with the civil surgeon who they said was involved in irregularities in recent recruitment of class three and class four employees in the district health department.
Joynal Abedin, commander of the district unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, met the local journalists at local Muktijoddha Sangsad office yesterday and brought the allegations against the deputy commissioner.
In the meeting, Joynal alleged that Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mazid had earlier assured them that he would take actions against the civil surgeon and others who were involved in the irregularities in appointments of employees in the district health department.
“When we went to meet the DC at his office on Monday, he sided with the people involved in the irregularities in appointments of health staff and misbehaved with us,” the district commander further alleged.
Joynal Abedin also announced to form a human chain in the town on October 27 to protest the incident.
Refuting the allegations, the deputy commissioner said it was beyond his jurisdiction to take any action against irregularities and corruption in the health department. “I have joined here only a month ago. I haven't met the civil surgeon yet. So, there is no question of siding with him,” he added.
