MP "tries to misappropriate school funds"

A local Awami League lawmaker has used his influence to form an ad-hoc managing committee for Kumira Residential High School in Sitakunda to misappropriate Tk 60 lakh of the school funds, the "existing" committee chief alleged at a press conference yesterday.
The ad-hoc committee was formed on September 9 in violation of a High Court directive, said Lion Hasina Khan, president of the existing committee, who was elected on April 3, 2011 for a term of two years.
Hasina told journalists that some miscreants instigated by AL MP Abul Kashem Master have also obstructed holding of the committee' meetings. She said they filed a writ petition with the HC on August 24, 2011 in this connection and the HC issued directives to the school inspector, the board chairman, the officer-in-charge of Sitakunda, and superintendent of police (SP) of Chittagong (North) asking for actions actions to hold the meeting.
Asked, the Chittagong education board chairman Nurul Huda said he did not receive any directive from the HIC in this regard.
Abul Kashem Master said the formation of the ad-hoc committee is responsibility of the Chittagong education board.
