Fake currency identifiers before Eid
In the face of wide sprayed existence of fake currencies across the country, the police high-ups decided to introduce fake currency identifiers to check the fraudulent acts through making and marketing fake currencies, said sources.
The decision came at a quarterly crime conference of police yesterday held at Police Headquarters in the city where the police high-ups also expressed concern over the recent activities of the gangs of fake currency makers and dealers.
Chaired by Inspector General of Police Hassan Mahmood Khandker, additional IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque, chiefs of Special Branch (SB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), commissioners of all the metropolitans, deputy inspector generals (DIGs) of all the ranges, were present at the meeting.
Meeting sources said the fake currency identifiers would be introduced before the Eid-ul-Azha when monitory transaction goes high.
Sources said the meeting discussed that the frauds opt marketing the fake currencies when the monitory transaction goes high and also when new notes are released in the market.
Analysing the crimes situation, the high police officials agreed that illegal drug trading is the number one problem, which is also the main source of crimes in the country, sources said.
The meeting also discussed the involvement of a section of law enforcers in various criminal and unlawful activities.
