Chhayanaut to hold two-day classical dance festival

Cultural organisation Chhayanaut will hold a two-day classical dance festival at its premises, on October 20-21. The aim of the festival is to promote and popularise classical dance forms.
Four prominent forms of classical dance-- Manipuri, Odissi, Bharat Natyam and Kathak-- will be demonstrated throughout the festival. Apart from Chhayanaut students and teachers, invited guests from and outside Dhaka will participate at the programme.
A press conference regarding the festival was held yesterday at Chhayanaut. Among the speakers were, Khairul Anam Shakil, general secretary of Chhayanaut; Bidyut Kumar Basu, chief marketing officer, Robi; Pradip Nag, treasurer of Chhayanaut and noted danseuse Sharmila Banerjee.
Telecommunication Company Robi will sponsor the festival.
Last year, the organisation held a Tagore dance festival to pay tribute to the poet on his 150th birth anniversary.
