Sec 144 in Benapole

Local administration imposed Section 144 at Benapole Bazar and its adjoining areas for 30 hours until Thursday midnight as Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and BNP called separate meetings at the same venue and time. Benapole upazila unit of BNP convened a meeting at Benapole High School field at 3:00pm yesterday and local BCL unit also called a meeting at the same venue and time. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamrul Arif said he banned public meetings in the areas for 30 hours until midnight on Thursday to avert any possible clash between the two rival parties.
